The Mid-Willamette Valley Engineering Day is an annual celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of Engineers. GK provided factory tours while Trevor Scheck and Tim Crawford set-up a display in the cafeteria and answered attendee questions. Here's a nice letter GK Machine received after the February 19th event:
The Mid-Willamette Valley Future Engineers Day Planning Committee and I would like to thank you for participating in this year's event. We had a great turnout for this year's event: approximately 275 students, over 50 engineers, 13 industry tour sites, and staff from 7 colleges and universities were in attendance! Without support from you and other individuals, businesses, and organizations like you, we would not be able to inspire many young minds to consider a career in engineering.
Industry tours are an important component to recruit that next generation of engineers. Your business helps make the connection between education and application. The tours you provide stimulate student conversation for many days after the event!
We hope you had an adequate amount of time to engage the students in conversation and they also engaged you. For those of you that provided tours, please take a moment to fill out a short survey to let us know what you thought of the event and to provide us with suggestions for improvement.
We hope that you will join us again next year. Please spread the word among your peers and associates; we would love to see them at next year's event as well.
Thank you once again,
Mikal Mitchell and Ryan Murray, Mid-Willamette Valley Future Engineers Day Committee
