GK Machine welcomed 31 Boy Scouts, leaders, and parents from the Cascade Pacific Council on Saturday, October 27, 2023. The day started with Justin Dryden, Manufacturing Engineer, leading the group in learning welding processes and safety practices. During the morning session, Scouts observed laser-cutting and then the press brake; they were able to see the process of cutting and bending the toolbox.>
The Scouts broke into smaller groups and headed to Fabrication cells to learn from some of GK's experienced fabricators. Each Scout welded their toolbox together and headed to the Powder Coat area, where staff helped each scout powder coat their toolbox. While the toolboxes were baking in the powder coat oven, GK staff gave a facility tour and talked with them about careers in fabrication and the manufacturing industry.
A special thanks to all GK Machine staff who assisted 31 Scouts in earning their Fabrication Merit Badge. Over 70 Scouts showed interest in the Fabrication Merit Badge training. GK Machine has committed to another Scout Merit Badge training in the Spring of 2024!
