GK Machine hosted 34 Boy Scouts, leaders, and parents from the Cascade Pacific Council on Saturday, February 25, 2023. The day started by welcoming the scouts to GK Machine's large cafeteria, where Justin Dryden led the group to learn about welding safety practices. During the morning session, Scouts were able to go out on the shop floor to observe toolboxes being laser cut and then on to the Press Brake, where they observed the toolbox being bent into shape.
After a pizza lunch, the Scouts broke into groups of 5-6 and headed out to Fabrication cells to learn from some of GK's experienced fabricators. Each Scout was able to weld their box together and then head over to the Power Coat area, where staff helped each scout powder coat their toolbox. While the toolboxes were baking in the powder coat oven, GK staff gave a manufacturing facility tour and talked with them about careers in welding and fabrication.
