Job description - Clerical Assistant for Production Planning

The Production Planner is responsible for planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company's productive capacity as well as managing inventory levels.

Essential Functions:

  • Create job books for the production floor as directed.
  • Build job books per established procedures.
  • Overcheck accuracy of job contents; drawings, materials, and flow.
  • Receive and collect completed jobs from the shop floor and prepare for closure.
  • Tear down completed books for re-use or disposal.
  • Monitor supplies for the planning office.

Marginal Functions:

  • Any other duties that may be assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Required: High School diploma, GED from an accredited school system or program, and familiarity with a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of lean processing and ISO quality system requirements is helpful.
  • Computer, Required: Literacy with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
  • Mathematics: This position requires excellent general math skills and accuracy for ordering, generating and tracking materials requests and work orders, etc.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Workplace Expectations:

  • Scan employee card at entrance door, and report to your work station prepared to work your scheduled shift.
  • Work over time when approved or requested by Management.
  • Accurately record time worked in Time Clock.
  • Maintain a positive cooperative attitude towards all employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Assist team members when the need arises.
  • Respect the confidentiality of all company, customer and personnel information.
  • Make the best use of time during the course of the workday.
  • Provide advanced proper notification of scheduled absences.
  • Follow and enforce compliance to all safety requirements and practices listed in the GK Machine Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.
  • Maintain all work-related documentation neatly, legibly and accurately.
  • Keep work area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Seek guidance and direction as necessary.
  • Maintain a well groomed, presentable appearance.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The employee may be asked to perform overtime.
