Job Description - Fabricators - Stainless Steel Level 1, 2 or 3
Our innovative Industrial and Agricultural Manufacturing Company hires skilled Stainless Steel Fabricators/Welders to join our Fabrication Department. We seek individuals with expertise in stainless steel and aluminum fabrications for Full-Time, Day Shift positions. Starting wages range from $17 to $31/hour, depending on experience and skill level.
Level 1 Fabricator/Welder (Stainless Steel/Aluminum) Responsibilities:
- Perform basic welds with GTAW (TIG) on heavy-gauge stainless steel.
- Use GMAW (MIG) to weld aluminum and stainless steel.
- Fabricate using jigs and fixtures.
- Read basic weld prints and follow weld procedures.
- Understand and meet essential print tolerances.
- Adjust welding machine settings appropriately.
- Sand/grind to GK grade B finish.
- Understand basic AWS weld symbols.
- Measure with tape to 1/32”.
Level 2 Fabricator/Welder (Stainless Steel/Aluminum) Responsibilities:
- All competencies from Level 1, plus:
- Perform GTAW (TIG) welding on heavy gauge stainless steel and aluminum.
- Weld all positions using GMAW (MIG) with stainless and aluminum filler material.
- Prepare materials for welding and ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Fabricate intermediate-level jobs using layout tools like angle finders and
squares.
- Read and interpret intermediate weld prints and meet tighter tolerances.
- Sand to DA finish requirements.
- Operate fabrication equipment such as shears and handheld plasma cutters.
- Understand heat shrinking and straightening techniques for stainless steel.
Level 3 Fabricator/Welder (Stainless Steel/Aluminum) Responsibilities:
- All competencies from Levels 1 and 2, plus:
- Fabricate advanced-level jobs using complex layout techniques for all
thicknesses of stainless steel and aluminum with GMAW and GTAW.
- Maintain tight tolerances and dimensions using GD&T principles.
- Break large jobs into sub-weldments as required.
- Read advanced prints and troubleshoot design issues in collaboration with
engineering.
- Weld dissimilar materials and provide advanced finishes (e.g., GK grade A, 2B,
and #4 finishes).
- Operate all GK fabrication equipment independently.
- Lead and train Level 1 and 2 team members.
- Utilize advanced straightening techniques.
Qualifications:
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in fabrication and welding
processes.
- Strong ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Experience with threading techniques is essential.
- Familiarity with operating equipment safely in a manufacturing environment is
preferred.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations are necessary.
- Ability to use precision tools such as micrometers effectively.
