Job Description - Quality Control Document Specialist

The quality control document specialist has a direct interface with the production floor, engineering, and sales. This position is responsible for the documentation of internal and external quality issues, root cause analysis, and following up to ensure that corrective actions have been successfully implemented. The quality control document specialist is responsible for a variety of technical documentation and record keeping in support of the quality department and quality needs of other departments.

Essential Functions

  • Document quality issues reported both internally and externally.
  • Bring awareness internally of issues to the appropriate parties.
  • Fill out engineering change requests related to floor issues to help prevent issue recurrence.
  • Complete the NCR process in Simpletrak to ensure that root causes are investigated and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Follow up after corrective actions have been implemented to determine if the corrective action was successful and whether further action is needed.
  • Help assure that ISO 9001 standards are being met and maintained.
  • Assist in the standardization of quality standards and expectations between departments.
  • Look for opportunities for process improvements and bring those opportunities for improvement to the necessary parties, providing assistance when possible.
  • Customer required manufacturing/quality documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Required: 2 years of technical experience to provide a better understanding of the manufacturing processes of the company as well as the strengths and limitations of those processes.
  • Preferred: 5 years of work experience in manufacturing/quality control that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions for the role.
  • Communication: Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate within the company and potentially with customers at times about quality concerns, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
  • Computer: Required: Knowledge and skills pertaining to Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Maintain a well-groomed, presentable appearance.

Work Environment

GK Machine makes every effort to provide a pleasant, environmentally controlled office and facility atmosphere. However, this position will be required to spend some time in the fabrication shop, warehouse, and outdoors in the storage yard in all types of weather, and will be exposed to dust, dirt, fumes, etc. You may visit current and potential manufacturers, suppliers, customers and other outside professionals with whom the Company does business on a regular basis at their locations, in various types of conditions over which the Company has no control.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The employee may be asked to perform overtime.
